Toronto has the most sophisticated streetcar system in North America. All other North American cities abandoned them in the 1930s, but Toronto kept them alive, and now they provide a totally unique transportation experience.
I love them because when I was exploring the city, I was unafraid of hopping on and off. The clearly laid path of tracks and cables informed their trajectory, making it easy to know where the machine was heading!
I found Toronto to be an extremely inviting and civilized city, welcoming a stranger who had no clue where he was going, but could quickly learn.
