Ornament: A Stocking Stuffer Showcase
This holiday season, we’re tapping into our community to expand the reach of our events and make our long history of showcasing work more accessible to a wider audience. Ornament will launch online and be fully shoppable, followed by an in-person exhibition in New York City. This marks the beginning of future exhibitions that will co-exist both online and in person.
Ornament, a new American Design Club show, centers on the creation of ornaments- objects that carry both symbolic and aesthetic weight during the holiday season. Beyond decoration, ornaments act as cultural touchstones: they spark memory, mark traditions, and shape the way we gather and celebrate. The materials, forms, and placement of these objects influence not only the atmosphere of a space, but also how we experience ritual, nostalgia, and community.
As a cultural phenomenon, we’ve perfected the functional side of holiday décor- what hangs, what shines, what lasts. The challenge now is not function, but meaning.
We invite artists, designers, and creators to reflect on this theme and tell us: What is the ornament of your collection? Whether decorative or conceptual, functional or symbolic, we welcome interpretations that celebrate the spirit of the holidays.
